The following databases are available to UK higher education institutions (universities, colleges of higher education and research councils). Some may also be available to UK further education institutions, European academic institutions and other organisations. Contact ingenta or CHEST, as appropriate, if you have any queries about database availability. Most databases are offered on a site licence basis, with an annual subscription fee payable to ingenta UK Ltd. or CHEST. The site licence gives all staff and students at the site free and unlimited access to the database. Sites taking out a licence for any of Education Datasets, or INSPEC are committed until the end of the licence period (see End Date in table). BIDS

Special Notes: All prices are subject to VAT, where applicable. CAB ABSTRACTS - Available to higher and further education institutions in the UK only. The licence fee for an agricultural college or institution with an agricultural or agriculturally related faculty is £4200 per annum. For all other UK institutions the fee is £2100 per annum. Anybody belonging to a licensed institution has free and unlimited access to the BIDS CAB ABSTRACTS service. It is available (with a few exceptions) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contact ingenta for further details. Note: Charges are for single-site, networked access. Wide Area Networks and Consortia may be subject to a surcharge. Education Datasets - Available to higher and further education institutions in the UK and Ireland. The current licensing arrangements expire on 31st July 2003, and enquiries should be directed to the JISC. IBSS - Free to UK institutions funded by the HEFCs or DENI or in receipt of grants from the ESRC.
